Today’s Gas & Diesel Price Updates

We got a small bounce in price for gasoline, more so with diesel fuel. Gasoline is up by 1.53 cents/gallon at the average rack in Selma. Diesel fuel jumped back up[ by 4.68 cents/gallon. I think it is interesting that the  average rack price for regular gasoline is exactly $2.00/gallon. I think it is interesting that diesel fuel at the rack cost less than a cent more than premium gasoline. Prices are:

Now, I would like to say a word on immigration. As I have said, we need to act as a brain drain on the rest of the world. We should seek out the most intelligent, capable and educated people in the world and we should do so actively. Much of the time, we will find them here as foreign students studying in the U.S. and we want them to stay. Years ago I would have said that No we should send them back and build their own countries. Let them stay. Let’s work to have the very best immigrants that will insure our country’s future. We need the genius one of a kind in their fields first and foremost, but less gifted less. I think we should employ a point system based on education, talent and merit from the prestigious and gifted at the top down to migrant workers at the bottom.

That brings us to the Hispanic problem. Let’s ask the question, ‘Why do many Americans oppose Hispanics receiving a blanket amnesty. (I would add that if President Obama acts unilaterally to give a general amnesty, then he should be Impeached). The answer we hear ’Because they broke in line, they cheated to come here.’ Other immigrants wait for years. Why shouldn’t Hispanics do the same. Okay, what if we made them get back in line for citizenship. Can’t we agree on a way to accomplish this? I agree with Larry Kudlow, the Republicans need to offer a plan and not just criticize any move by Democrats by trying to demonize them (Hispanics or Democrats). All countries have a quota and I would expect our neighbor Mexico receives a quota also. We start with the most educated and ones with money. They receive points for both. In Mexico, one must have a certain amount of personal wealth to become a citizen, why not the U.S.? After that, we look at the points. I would also give points for the number of years that Hispanics have lived here and worked, not committed crimes. These would be the next to be put into the cue, waiting for the quota that will pull their group in each year. Most would have to wait years, even a decade but they can earn their right to be an American citizen. If they sell drugs or have committed serious crimes, put them on the bus out of our country.  For smaller laws broken such as driving without insurance or without license, they would lose from their point total. Speaking English earns one points. Taking and passing an American History class would earn them points. The higher the points, the farther one moves up the ladder. While they are waiting, one could establish a few points to obtain a green card and keep it. If one commits serious crimes, the Green Card would be taken and the criminal exported. We still need and have the right to lockdown our borders. Anyone hiring an alien without a Green Card would be severely fined. I have sketched a  general outline for an immigration policy. The devil is in the details and it will take a group of fair minded politicians on each side of the aisle to hammer out the details that are fair to our citizens, fair to all the nonHispanic immigrants but also fair to the Hispanic immigrants. That is what the American people are, fair minded. Let’s solve this problem and move on.

I have been receiving a stack of bills each month. I finally have a solution for cutting the pile down. I have positioned my mail tray strategically above my recycling container. Once the bills reach a critical angle, they slide off into the recycling, a very green solution, don’t you think. Now, I have just the number of bills I need to pay.

Could you use a little good news? Gasoline is down by 4.31 cents/gallon at the average rack in Selma. Diesel fuel is down by 4.12 cents/gallon. Hopefully, we see the average rack price of gasoline fall below $2.00. That would be a nice Christmas present for the country. Prices are:

Today the new Ford F150 pickup started down the assembly line at two plants in the U.S. This model is 700 pounds lighter due to the recycled aluminum built into each model, replacing steel. This lighter model supposedly gets 28 miles per gallon, but Ford has been known to cheat on their mileage ratings. The F150 is the highest selling vehicle in this country. They make more F150s in one day than Tesler makes in  a month.

Gasoline went up by 2.11 cents/gallon at the average rack in Selma. Diesel fuel went down by 2.0 cents/gallons. Prices are:

It has been little reported in the news but many of our soldiers are still dying in Afghanistan because they were killed by the Afghan Security Police they are trying to train, people who are insurgents but lie to get into the police academies. If it were up to me, I would interview each of the candidates alone. I would tell them they had to take a lie detector test and if they failed, we would take them out and shoot them. Now, do you want to take this test or to leave here today and not join the Afghan Security training camp? Choose. I would tell them our technology has perfected these lie detectors so they should choose their next answer wisely. And if they refused I would have them arrested, no released. I would also set up a drama where a cadet supposedly failed the test and was dragged away outside and shots were heard and all the other cadet candidates witnessed this one public display, then interview them alone. In a street fight there are no rules. But that is just me!

Prices are still rising. I think they are being carried along with the Stock Markets after the election results. Gasoline is up 3.15 cents/gallon at the average rack in Selma. Diesel fuel is up by 1.80 cents/gallon. I believe that it will reverse again and prices will go down, but I don’t own a crystal ball or I would be rich, which I am not. Crude is still down below $80, actually $77.82/barrel. Prices are:

I voted but I did not check anyone for judge. I regret I had no knowledge of the candidates for judge. I had a solution for that years ago, voting on line. I attached it here, if you are curious.

Bad news, crude rallied, despite the fact that Saudi Arabia dropped their price to save market share in the U.S. Go figure? Gasoline jumped up 4.83 cents/gallon at the average rack in Selma. Diesel fuel edged up by 0.70 cents/gallon. Prices are:

Random thoughts:

We had our first frost of the season this morning.

Tomorrow we can vote. I don’t want to be the one who stayed home and might have made the difference in a close race. And you?

I was driving home on the Beltline tonight in the dark now that the time has changed. I got on at 64 expressway headed North and all the red taillights were backing up from the Fortify Project. I can think of another name for it if I could keep the letter F. The farther I drove past all the oncoming headlights, I kept thinking of lemmings rushing to their end.

I heard tell of a story about a young boy who was brought to a Wake County Court. The boy had had a terrible life so far. His parents beat him, then he went to live with an older brother and his brother got drunk and beat him. He was even placed into foster care and you guessed it, the woman beat him, too. The judge sat the boy down in front of him and asked him, kindly, who would you like to go and live with. The young  boy replied,” Judge, I would like to go live with the Carolina Hurricanes. Judge, I have heard people say, they never beat anybody!”

Well, that joke is over. The Hurricanes beat Arizona on Saturday night and then on Sunday they beat no one less than last year’s  Stanley Cup champs, LA Kings, 3-2. Maybe now that they broke that egg in the Win column, the monkey is off their back and the back of the new coach, new assistant coach, and new Manager. They have finally cured their back problems. Lots of backs can straighten up now.

Great news I bear to you today. Crude broke the $8o dollar support level and closed at $78.27/barrel. More good news, the dollar closed at 87.27 cents against a basket of the world’s eleven strongest currencies. I have always said that a dollar should be worth a dollar. That is the strongest the dollar has been since QE began. Not by luck did our price of crude, gasoline and diesel fuel go up at the same time and the dollar dropped. Crude is traded in dollars. Cheaper fuel are like a major tax incentive for everyone and every company. Our country is headed for prosperity and its best days to come. Countries like Venezuela are headed for riot and revolution.

Gasoline is down by 2.30 cents/gallon at the average rack in Selma. Diesel fuel is down a further 3.56/gallon. This is when our customers benefit, when prices are following. We go down next day. The street is following Hopkins Oil pricing by about two weeks. Prices are:
